Pastor Profile The Pastor is responsible for leading the church in functioning as a New Testament church. The Pastor will lead the congregation, the organizations and the church staff in performing their tasks. He will give attention to the spiritual needs of the members, to preach the Gospel, to administer the ordinances of the New Testament, to watch tenderly over the flock of God, to act as moderator in all matters for the transaction of business, except when he is personally involved, to give assistance when requested to all organizations and committees of the church, to be the executive leader and officer of the church in its local and denominational relationships, and to perform any other duties that he, and the church may agree upon as incumbent upon his office. The Pastor should be a man who: is theologically conservative, fully subscribing to the current edition of The Baptist Faith and Message. He should also hold to conservative spiritual viewpoints on current social and ethical issues. places a priority emphasis on discipleship and spiritual growth in his own life and nurtures/equips others in the congregation to grow as well. emphasizes evangelism and the importance of lifestyle witnessing, and be an experienced witness himself, including having experience of witnessing to people of other faiths. is a gifted teacher who understands and enables people to learn about deep spiritual truths, including theological concepts and aberrant theologies is a leader with vision, able to grasp and share God's vision for the future of the church in a way that will engage and rally others to it. is an effective communicator of well-prepared sermons has a minimum of five to ten years of actively serving fulltime in the pastorate of a Southern Baptist Church(es) in good standing with the Southern Baptist Convention. is a family man, married one time to one woman (never divorced). Our preference would be that he have children, if God has so blessed him. has earned both an undergraduate and a Master's degree (at least), preferably from a Southern Baptist seminary (ies) or equivalent academically and theologically. understands the role and objectives of various church organizations and ministries.
